The Story Behind A Great Central Lab

Each year in the United States, more than 3,500 new clinical trials are initiated to test the efficacy and safety of new and existing drugs. “Central laboratory” testing (i.e. testing of blood, urine and other tissue samples) plays a key role in nearly all of these studies.

In order to ensure consistency of testing and reporting across numerous geographically-dispersed research locations, the “sponsors” (i.e. pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies) of these clinical trials retain the services of a central laboratory. Central labs collect the samples from investigative sites across the country, perform the lab testing, and report the lab results to the investigative sites and trial sponsor.

In 2002, LabConnect Founders identified an opportunity to build a central laboratory services company with a superior business model to the existing competition including: consistent and affordable pricing, dedication to service excellence, access to innovative testing options, and quality results.

As a result, LabConnect, LLC launched in March 2003 to provide central laboratory services for clinical trials. Since then, LabConnect has employed a unique business model relative to its industry competitors, operating at a fraction of the cost while at the same time providing superior customer service. Ultimately, the company helps its clients develop important new medical advances more quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively.
